Welcome to my website! I am a Lecturer in the Peace and Conflict Studies and the Global Studies program at the University of California, Berkeley.
My research focuses on the causes and consequences of political violence in Sub-Saharan Africa, including Burundi, Malawi, and Côte d'Ivoire. I also study the the effectiveness of electoral violence prevention programs, through experimental and qualitative methods, as well as the process of public service provision and electoral accountability in democratizing countries.
I teach classes on post-conflict peace building and global studies in Africa, and advise undergraduate senior capstones in peace and conflict studies.
I have collaborated with the United States Institute of Peace, and my research is supported by a number of funding sources, including the National Science Foundation. I hold a Presidential Chair Fellowship at UC Berkeley and I am a member of the advisory board of the Center for African Studies.
Prior to joining UC Berkeley I was a graduate fellow at the Stanford Center for International Conflict and Negotiation, a visiting scholar at the Center for African Studies at UC Berkeley, and a visiting student at the Center on Order, Conflict and Violence at Yale University. I obtained my PhD in Politics from New York University in 2014.
